While in NY, we tried a place in Soho called Rubirosa Ristorante. They had a gluten-free menu and after asking our waitress a bunch of questions, it was clear that they were aware of what cross contamination was and how to avoid it. We started with the mozzarella sticks. Fried cheese = Perfection. We then split the Classic GF pizza.
We really enjoyed the pizza as all of the ingredients involved were tasty. I can’t wait until we get back there so I can try the pasta… and the chicken parmigiano… and the rice balls… and the meatballs.

I need to make a comment about a very bad experience I had last night at Lucky’s in Montecito. It was my son’s 30th birthday, so we did a special dinner there. I told the waiter my usual allergy to Gluten, I asked if the French onion soup was gluten free to check with the chef, and if the cheese was ok without the bread. He came back and said yes, and he would make sure., Well about 15 min aft I ate it, I didn’t want to eat my main stead dinner, and went to the bathroom and threw the soup up for 10 minutes, and cleaned it up, and was fine about 10 min later. The soup was definitely contaminated. I told the manager, and he went into the kitchen, but never came back to apologize, or ask if there was anything he could do for me. He didn’t charge for my food, but as good will, since they ruined our special dinner, they should have not handed us our over $250. bill. This is my Gluten Fee story.
Oh no! I wonder what it was. I was just there on NYE and had a successful experience so it just goes to show you that at some restaurants, it may come down to who is your server or working in the kitchen that night. Ugh.
