I had just enough time before work to get breakfast this morning so I decided to go to Tupelo Junction. They always have a stack of the Santa Barbara Independent out front which was perfect reading material as I was dining alone today. I ordered the smoked bacon, spinach, caramelized onion, tomato and gouda scramble. It was quite good. It comes with their potatoes which are always the perfect consistency. Yum.

I also had the Insalata di Fagioli with grilled shrimp. Everything was GF as is and delicious!
Last night’s pan-seared local sea bass from @bouchonsantabarbara was delicious. It doesn’t matter who our server is, they are all super knowledgeable and accommodating about dietary restrictions!
Happy National Veggie Burger Day! I celebrated at @islandssb with their Impossible Burger on a GF bun. Request your fries to be made in their GF fryer and enjoy!
Nothing says summer like a lobster roll. While @broadstreetoysterco doesn’t have GF rolls, you can order yours protein style and bring it home to put on your own gluten-free roll. I had the lobster roll warm with butter protein style. I asked them to change their gloves when preparing my order as they have many items with gluten. I also confirmed that the only ingredients used were lobster, butter and chives and that they could prepare it with clean tools and a clean surface. This went great with a @canyonglutenfree sub roll and some @kettlebrand potato chips!
I loved the build your own bowl I ordered from the entirely GF @locavivantkitchen - my bowl consisted of quinoa, black beans, grilled chicken, roasted beets, shredded cabbage and carrots, goat cheese, avocado and green onions. It was super yummy with the carrot ginger vinaigrette. They offer self-serve pickup at their location. Just check the fridge for your clearly labeled items!
After a pretty awful service experience yesterday (see last post), I had the complete opposite encounter with a restaurant tonight. A special shoutout to Kaitlin from @okurestaurant who was so cautious and patient when I was placing my order with her tonight. Multiple times, when she wasn’t sure of the answer, she placed me on hold to confirm the answers to my questions about ingredients and preparation with the kitchen. I had the rainbow roll (substituted with real crab) and some nigiri (with no wasabi). Thank you Kaitlin!
