While @trattoriavittoriasb doesn’t have gluten-free pasta available, they do have plenty of GF options that are sure to satisfy. I started with an arugula salad with artichoke hearts and grilled shrimp. I then had their grilled pork chop topped with prosciutto and melted mozzarella cheese. This was a massive amount of food. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and I loved the green beans and potatoes that came with it. Both dishes were naturally gluten-free. However I made sure to confirm that they would be cooked on a clean surface and with clean tools.
If you find yourself in Ojai, consider stopping at @farmerandthecookojai for a meal. This organic, vegetarian restaurant has lots of GF options. I had the egg burrito with corn tortillas substituted for the flour burrito. I made sure to request the corn tortillas to be made on a surface separate from the burritos. The salsa that this came with had a great heat and taste to it. I also got a slice of their organic Ojai Olive Oil Citrus Cake which had a nice balance of nutty and sweet.
On those days that I can’t decide what to eat, tacos are usually the answer. Lilly’s only offers tacos and they are all on corn tortillas so there is no need to worry about cross-contamination with burritos or flour tortillas. I get mine with onions, cilantro and their flavorful, spicy salsa.
I was in the mood for chicken parm last night so I called @oliosantabarbara (the pizzeria) to ask if they would be able to make it gluten-free. They used their grilled chicken instead of the breaded chicken and made sure to cook everything on a clean surface. It came with potatoes and veggies, both of which were GF as is.
Does anyone else feel like Cacio e Pepe is a grown-up’s version of mac n’ cheese? I ordered this cheesy dish from @trelunemontecito last night and it did not disappoint. I paired my dish with an Aperol Spritz. Big Saturday night over here!
@bossieskitchen.sb is back open, and I am so happy they are. Last night, I had their Thursday special - local wild halibut, mushrooms, spring vegetable risotto and gremolata butter. It was GF as is, but they made sure to make the halibut on a clean surface for me.
